Starting Friday, you’ll see conservators working on “Carambola” at the Main Street Library, repairing cracks, removing rust, and giving this sculpture a new patina. Work starts this weekend, will pause, and then resume in June. We can’t wait to see this joyful figure restored to its original self!

Melpomene restored

Port Warwick’s Melpomene by sculptor Romolo Del Deo was due for a new base because of staining and damage to the original. A beautiful, new, warm marble base was installed by sculptors and sculpture installers Harry H. Gordon (also sculptor of Lenape Gate in Port Warwick) and Eric Schultz.
